Search engine traffic is sought after by many Internet marketers because of the quality of visitors that search engines can generate. SEO(Search Engine Optimization) is an art form that is difficult to master and causes confusion amongst many. Some SEO companies claim to offer solutions that will catapult your website’s ranking in the search engines. Before you jump at that opportunity, you have to understand the real truth behind those bold promises and guarantees that a lot of these SEO sites are claiming. Here’s some powerful advice to help you clear up the smoke and mirrors of SEO.

Avoid companies that guarantee you a top ten ranking in the search engines. These companies may get your site listed high in the search engine results, but only for keywords that are unrelated to your website and are almost never searched for online. Some of these SEO sites are outright scams that will take your money and disappear. Ranking well in search engines for the keywords that will bring you traffic takes the right amount of time and effort. You just can’t buy your way to the top of the rankings…especially not in the short amount of time that these fraudulent companies promise.

Don’t waste your money on those sites that will submit your URL to thousands of search engines. It may sound appealing just thinking about how much traffic you can get from all of these engines. The truth is, most of those search engine sites are miniscule and have almost no people using them. A lot of people don’t realize that a majority of searches completed online originate from either Google, Yahoo or MSN. If your favorite isn’t listed in this top three, chances are it’s powered by one of them. AOL, for example, uses Google’s index to provide search results to their users. A lot of other well known search engines utilize the indexes of these three popular companies. All you really need to do is to submit your URL to Google, Yahoo and MSN…and it costs nothing when you do it manually.

Tip 1: Get Backlinks

Backlinks are links from websites other than your website that link back to your website. The more quality of backlinks along with the quantity of popular links pointing your website is fantastic.

By simply placing the link of your business website, a backlink is counted. Others prefer browsing blogs, forums, and other sites that are related to the business and posting a link if it is allowed. Once you have lots of backlinks, you will notice more visitors every day.

Place a lot of Content

Article directories are not just about getting some backlinks because a good number of people actually read the content thoroughly to see if any of the questions in mind are answered. The safest way to answer all these questions is by placing a lot of relevant content. Good content doesn’t necessarily have to be the longest, but making sure the content makes sense is vital for the search engine optimization to do its job completely. If you still insist on making long content, take advantage by scattering more keywords among the many paragraphs.
